Vincent is now four weeks old. On Sunday, he will be a month old. Most parents say time flies by when they have babies. I feel like this has been the longest month of my life. He hasn't accomplished much yet. He is starting to try to roll over. He still only stays awake about an hour before getting fussy. I am starting to be able to get things done while he sleeps. I just got the photo cd from his hospital newborn photo shoot. I plan on sending pics to everyone that came to my baby shower with their thank you cards.

Over Reacted.
Everyone seems to believe I'm over reacting, I disagree. My grandma was lending me some money so I can afford to buy Vincent's newborn photos, so I got Vincent ready and put him in the car seat. I had a lot of stuff I had to take with me, so me and Jake were loading up the car. I left Vincent sitting back in the car seat in the middle of the kitchen table while we were outside. The only other person home was Jake's dad, who was sitting a few feet from the table. I assumed that like any day he would just sit there, so he could watch Vincent. I turned away from the car to go get Vincent and noticed Jake's dad walking up the side of the house. Of course I got mad and mumbled "Sure just leave my son alone in the house." So Jake tells me I'm over reacting because nothing is going to happen. Then while we're at my grandma's, she ignored everything I kept telling her and gave Vincent a bottle of breastmilk with rice cereal. Obviously he should not be having rice cereal because he's only two weeks old. He sucked the bottle down in what felt like a minute. Soon after he starts throwing up. It was going every where. I went to clean it but he kept throwing up and it bounced off the blanket into his face. It got into his eyes, nose, hair and everything. I started panicking and crying because it was in his eyes. Nobody would help me, so I kept crying while trying to clean him. After he finally got cleaned up everyone started telling me I over reacted. Jake came in from helping my dad work on the car and I told him what happened and he agreed that I was over reacting.
I don't think I'm over reacting. Sure the crying wasn't needed but I was scared his vision would be messed up and wasn't sure he could breathe with it in his nose. And I don't want my son left alone with a dog ever. I realize the dog is a big baby and would probably never do anything to hurt anyone but you can never be sure. Sorry I had to vent.

Getting Easier Every Day
When you have a baby, things are pretty rough to start off. The first week you are so tired and sore that you really don't want to do anything. The more you do the worse you feel. It's best to set up a little area you will spend most your time. Keep all baby essentials in this area along with things you will need for yourself. This makes things a little easier. Breastfeeding takes time, you will get it right just keep trying.
Vincent just turned two weeks old today and things have gotten easier for us, by far. He sleeps better at night, stays awake longer during the day, and eats longer but less frequently. My body has gone back to what it was before minus light bleeding. I am not feeling exhausted anymore either. I wake up for the day at either 8 or 10 in the morning depending on how many times he wakes up at night and how long he stays awake at those times.
On a side note: My older sister had her ultrasound today and found out that she is having her first daughter this July. She is super excited as this is her third child and she's always wanted a girl. I am happy because I have three nephews already, so to be having a niece is going to be so different but exciting and fun.

I'm So In Love <3
Vincent is the greatest. I never knew I could love anyone as much as I do him. I couldn't ask for anything more. Well, I could ask for him to not be latched to my breast most of the day and to sleep through the night.
His umbilical cord fell off yesterday morning. I was pretty happy when I noticed it. The umbilical cord really grossed me out. I'm not sure why though. His grandma decided to keep it. She thinks I'm nuts for telling her that it's disgusting. I know she has all three of her sons' cords but still gross.
He has decided to start trying to roll over already. It's so cute how he gets so frustrated because he can't do it. He gets just as frustrated when put on his belly. His doctor told me to make sure he got belly time daily so he can try holding his head up. I put him on his stomach for the first time today and he didn't even move his head. He was lifting his butt and legs up though. He would also move his legs like he was crawling, all he has to do is get front up and going.
As for me: I am doing great. I gained 40 pounds during pregnancy and just 11 days after giving birth I already lost all but six pounds without trying. My bleeding has slowed down a lot and changed to a dark red. My stitch has already came out. I don't really hurt anymore. I occasionally get this kicked in the crotch feeling but it comes and goes. I am getting use to not sleeping much.

One Week Old
That first day was pretty tiring yet, I never went to sleep until they came to take him to the nursery to check on his vitals. I was suppose to call and let them know when I wanted them to bring him back. I did not because I was a bit stressed that no matter what I did I couldn't get him to latch and I tried to give him a bottle and he wouldn't take that either. I didn't know what to do since it had been 7 almost 8 hours since he had last ate. They did manage to get him to take the bottle for them through the night and in the morning he was back to latching on like a pro. I honestly don't remember much of the second day for some reason besides the fact that he was circumcised that morning and I had major diarrhea.
The day we came home was pretty stressful. He kept crying and I had absolutely no idea what to do. He would fill a diaper and as soon as you put a clean one on he would fill that one too. We went through quite a few diapers. Now, I make sure that if I believe he pooped already I go ahead and feed him because he WILL poop during or immediately after. I even give him a five minute waiting period after eating just to be sure. I thought he wasn't eating enough because at the hospital they told me he should be eating for 15-30 minutes every 2-3 hours. He would only show hunger signs every 3-4 hours and would only eat for 5-10 minutes. At his doctor appointment on Tuesday he was weighing in at exactly 9 pounds. The doctor said that means he is eating perfect and should be left eating the way he wants.
My advice for any first time moms would be to never give up. I am not one to stick to things that are not easily done and breastfeeding is not easily done. However, I absolutely hate breastfeeding but I am not going to give up on it. It is was is best for me and my little man. It does seem like you are constantly feeding and your nipples will definitely get sore but you get use to it. Also listen to people when they say get your sleep now. I am running on maybe 2 hours of sleep a night and about an hour and a half during the day. It is extremely exhausting.
Well that is my story. Now for some pics of my handsome little man.
