Sleep!

Ah I finally got a good night of sleep. Vincent went to bed at 11:30pm and didnt wake up until 5:45am. He ate for 10 minutes and went back to sleep. Didn't wake again until 8:52am. I was so happy, its my birthday and my almost 8 week old gave me such a great gift. However, he's been restless all day. He falls asleep but not good enough and wakes up bc he moved.
Yesterday, I had him in the bouncy seat and of course he was fussy because it wasn't the swing. He started kicking and hit the little toy fish on the you bar. His face lit up. He started smiling and almost giggled. He then continued trying to hit the toy. He managed a few times and you knew when he missed bc he'd grunt about it. I noticed that Jake would occasionally look over and watch. He quit playing his video game and turned to just watch Vincent kicked at the toy. I asked why he quit playing and he said he was tired. I don't think that was why. I believe he wanted to watch Vincent progress with learning about his feet.
Picture of Vincent smiling when I caled him fat man:

Please sleep in the crib!

My boufriend finally got time to set the crib up. I really didnt expect it to take 2 hours to do, but it did. Shortly after Vincent fell asleep so I figured I'd try laying him in the crib. The moment he touched the mattress he started screaming. So I put him back in the swing. Later on he fell asleep eating so I tried again. He slept from 8:20- 9pm, then woke up screaming. So I put him in swing and he went back to sleep. Then after his 11:30pm feeding he wouldn't sleep in the crib or swing only against me in my bed. He was like that up until 10am when he finally let me put him in the swing. Oh how I wish he would sleep in his bed. The swing takes up a lot of space.

Google adsense deleted.

I just logged in to blogger and found that my google adsense has been deleted due to over clicking. I think this is insane. I will not fight with google about it, I will just find new methods to add to my blog. Again I do not add these to upset people or to make a living I do it in hopes that I can send my son to college when hes 18-19yrs old.

Vincent refuses to sleep in his travel bed or bassinet. He use to only sleep on or against me, now he only sleeps in his swing. I hope to set his crib up within the next week, so we can start training him to sleep in there.
He is starting to smile more and more. Sometimes he will just keep smiling if I am trying to get him to sleep at night. He has also learned how to cover up when he gets cold. I woke up to get ready to go to some mom to mom sales, put his blanket on the tray of  the swing, came back and he had pulled it on himself. He did the same thing yesterday laying in my bed.

UH-OH

On Saturday night, Jake had to go in to work at 10pm and was set to get off at 6am. I put Vincent in the baby swing by my bed and he fell asleep. He usually has tons of problems sleeping and only power naps most days. However he slept very well for 5 hours in the baby swing. I started thinking maybe he has Reflux. I did my research only to find out that he has every symptom of reflux. I am giving it a couple days to see if the symptoms go away, if not I will be calling his doctor to get a test or two done.

On Easter, he was way more fussy than usual. I was trying everything I could to get him to calm down but he kept acting hungry. I fed him for about 45 mins than he started to fall asleep and let go. A few minutes later he was acting hungry again and I knew he wasn't. Jake's sister in law was holding him and she said that it look as if he is starting to teeth. I was like "He's only a month old he can't be teething already." So she handed him to Jake's mom and sure enough she said the same thing. Thankfully, Vincent has decided that the pacifier isn't an enemy now that he's teething. It was the first day he would take the pacifier. When we went over to Jake's oldest brother's house so that Jake could help him put in his new flooring, I was trying to give Vincent the pacifier because he was getting fussy and tired. I got distracted by something on the television, the pacifier about two inches from his mouth, he took it from me on his own.

I got his photo cd from when he was two days old finally:

My Reason for Ads

I know that many people do not like reading blogs that have ads, so I thought I would share why I put them on here. I currently live with my boyfriend and his parents. We stay in the attic, it is basically a regular bedroom. I do not have a job and my boyfriend works for minimum wage at a restaurant that will probably close in a couple years. I want to become a book author but believe I need to improve my writing first. I found a school that offers online writing courses. However, each course is $100. There is two or more that I would love to take. I do not plan on taking these classes until I can get a job and we get a place of our own. The reason I have added ads to my blog is to save up for my son to go to college. If he grows up and decides he doesn't want to go to college, I will let him do what he wants with the money. I just want to know he has the option.

Almost A Month Old

Vincent is now four weeks old. On Sunday, he will be a month old. Most parents say time flies by when they have babies. I feel like this has been the longest month of my life. He hasn't accomplished much yet. He is starting to try to roll over. He still only stays awake about an hour before getting fussy. I am starting to be able to get things done while he sleeps.  I just got the photo cd from his hospital newborn photo shoot. I plan on sending pics to everyone that came to my baby shower with their thank you cards.

Over Reacted.

Everyone seems to believe I'm over reacting, I disagree. My grandma was lending me some money so I can afford to buy Vincent's newborn photos, so I got Vincent ready and put him in the car seat. I had a lot of stuff I had to take with me, so me and Jake were loading  up the car. I left Vincent sitting back in the car seat in the middle of the kitchen table while we were outside. The only other person home was Jake's dad, who was sitting a few feet from the table. I assumed that like any day he would just sit there, so he could watch Vincent. I turned away from the car to go get Vincent and noticed Jake's dad walking up the side of the house. Of course I got mad and mumbled "Sure just leave my son alone in the house." So Jake tells me I'm over reacting because nothing is going to happen. Then while we're at my grandma's, she ignored everything I  kept telling her and gave Vincent a bottle of breastmilk with rice cereal. Obviously he should not be having rice cereal because he's only two weeks old. He sucked the bottle down in what felt like a minute. Soon after he starts throwing up. It was going every where. I went to clean it but he kept throwing up and it bounced off the blanket into his face. It got into his eyes, nose, hair and everything. I started panicking and crying because it was in his eyes. Nobody would help me, so I kept crying while trying to clean him. After he finally got cleaned up everyone started telling me I over reacted. Jake came in from helping my dad work on the car and I told him what happened and he agreed that I was over reacting.
I don't think I'm over reacting. Sure the crying wasn't needed but I was scared his vision would be messed up and wasn't sure he could breathe with it in his nose. And I don't want my son left alone with a dog ever. I realize the dog is a big baby and would probably never do anything to hurt anyone but you can never be sure. Sorry I had to vent.

Getting Easier Every Day

When you have a baby, things are pretty rough to start off. The first week you are so tired and sore that you really don't want to do anything. The more you do the worse you feel. It's best to set up a little area you will spend most your time. Keep all baby essentials in this area along with things you will need for yourself. This makes things a little easier. Breastfeeding takes time, you will get it right just keep trying.
Vincent just turned two weeks old today and things have gotten easier for us, by far. He sleeps better at night, stays awake longer during the day, and eats longer but less frequently. My body has gone back to what it was before minus light bleeding. I am not feeling exhausted anymore either. I wake up for the day at either 8 or 10 in the morning depending on how many times he wakes up at night and how long he stays awake at those times.
On a side note: My older sister had her ultrasound today and found out that she is having her first daughter this July. She is super excited as this is her third child and she's always wanted a girl. I am happy because I have three nephews already, so to be having a niece is going to be so different but exciting and fun.

I'm So In Love <3

Vincent is the greatest. I never knew I could love anyone as much as I do him. I couldn't ask for anything more. Well, I could ask for him to not be latched to my breast most of the day and to sleep through the night.
His umbilical cord fell off yesterday morning. I was pretty happy when I noticed it. The umbilical cord really grossed me out. I'm not sure why though. His grandma decided to keep it. She thinks I'm nuts for telling her that it's disgusting. I know she has all three of her sons' cords but still gross.
He has decided to start trying to roll over already. It's so cute how he gets so frustrated because he can't do it. He gets just as frustrated when put on his belly. His doctor told me to make sure he got belly time daily so he can try holding his head up. I put him on his stomach for the first time today and he didn't even move his head. He was lifting his butt and legs up though. He would also move his legs like he was crawling, all he has to do is get front up and going.
As for me: I am doing great. I gained 40 pounds during pregnancy and just 11 days after giving birth I already lost all but six pounds  without trying.  My bleeding has slowed down a lot and changed to a dark red. My stitch has already came out. I don't really hurt anymore. I occasionally get this kicked in the crotch feeling but it comes and goes. I am getting use to not sleeping much.

One Week Old

As you already know, I absolutely did not want to have my son on Leap Day. I was having contractions ten minutes apart for three days but my ob/gyn told me that she didn't think I was going to have him until after my due date which was March 4th. She told me this on February 28th. I woke up on February 29th at 11am and did the usual, go to bathroom then get a bowl of cereal. After I finished my bowl of cereal, the contractions got five minutes apart. I kept timing them but told my boyfriend that I didn't think I was in labor because I was told if I went in labor it would hurt. These contractions didn't hurt at all. So I just kept keeping track of them just in case they were to get painful. Three hours later the contractions still were not painful by any means, they felt like period cramps, and were now coming 3-5 minutes apart and lasting for roughly 45 seconds. I went ahead and called the doctor office and they told me to come in so they could check things. Sure enough I was still only 2cm dilated and about 60% effaced. I'm not sure why but they went ahead and kept me anyways and broke my water a couple hours later when I was still only 3cm dilated. The contractions started coming a lot sooner, not even a minute apart. Slowly, they got more painful. Within an hour they were so painful that my face would turn purple during one. My boyfriend and his mom left at 8pm to run home and get a few more things and feed our parakeet. I got the epidural about five minutes after they left and I am so glad that I did. I had planned on going as long as possible without getting it, but here I was barely 4cm dilated and in so much pain I couldn't even be nice when I would talk. The nurse told me that the epidural would take about an hour to kick in. I was perfectly fine within five minutes of getting it. Time seemed to slow down after the epidural though, so the wait from 8:30pm to 4:30am, when they told me I was 10cm, seemed like forever. Especially since I had just fallen asleep at 3:30am. When I was 10cm my son's heart rate had shot up pretty high, so I was put on oxygen to help get it back down. It didn't help at all. The nurse kept telling me to let her know when I felt pressure so that we could start pushing. At 5:15am, she came back in the room and told me that she was going to check if I was okay to push because they didn't want something happening to him due to his high heart rate. At this time, my boyfriend had just walked in the bathroom to put his contacts in. I can only imagine his face when he heard the nurse say, "My God girl you can see his head already." I couldn't feel a thing, gotta love that epidural. She went down to the nurse station to let them know that she was gonna help me deliver him until the doctor on call could come down to my room. He was in the middle of delivering another baby. I was pushing for about 15 minutes when another nurse came in and let my nurse know that the doctor was delivering someone else's baby but would be in as soon as he finished with this one. Meanless to say, the doctor only made it for three pushes and my son was here at 5:55am March 1st 2012. He weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces and was 22 inches long. He was perfect. He looks exactly like his dad did when he was a baby. I couldn't ask for much more.
That first day was pretty tiring yet, I never went to sleep until they came to take him to the nursery to check on his vitals. I was suppose to call and let them know when I wanted them to bring him back. I did not because I was a bit stressed that no matter what I did I couldn't get him to latch and I tried to give him a bottle and he wouldn't take that either. I didn't know what to do since it had been 7 almost 8 hours since he had last ate. They did manage to get him to take the bottle for them through the night and in the morning he was back to latching on like a pro. I honestly don't remember much of the second day for some reason besides the fact that he was circumcised that morning and I had major diarrhea.
The day we came home was pretty stressful. He kept crying and I had absolutely no idea what to do. He would fill a diaper and as soon as you put a clean one on he would fill that one too. We went through quite a few diapers. Now, I make sure that if I believe he pooped already I go ahead and feed him because he WILL poop during or immediately after. I even give him a five minute waiting period after eating just to be sure. I thought he wasn't eating enough because at the hospital they told me he should be eating for 15-30 minutes every 2-3 hours. He would only show hunger signs every 3-4 hours and would only eat for 5-10 minutes. At his doctor appointment on Tuesday he was weighing in at exactly 9 pounds. The doctor said that means he is eating perfect and should be left eating the way he wants.
My advice for any first time moms would be to never give up. I am not one to stick to things that are not easily done and breastfeeding is not easily done. However, I absolutely hate breastfeeding but I am not going to give up on it. It is was is best for me and my little man. It does seem like you are constantly feeding and your nipples will definitely get sore but you get use to it. Also listen to people when they say get your sleep now. I am running on maybe 2 hours of sleep a night and about an hour and a half during the day. It is extremely exhausting.

Well that is my story. Now for some pics of my handsome little man.
